Maud le Pladec ft Jr Madripp

Silent Legacy

‘With Silent Legacy, Maud Le Pladec explores heritage with two amazingly free and imaginative performers. Adeline Kerry Cruz is 8. Hailing from Montréal, this student of Jr Maddripp practices krump—a street dance which appeared in Los Angeles in the early 2000s-far from its native California.

Audrey Merilus is a professional dancer who has mastered many contemporary styles and techniques. With the choreographer, they decide what to make of this meeting: two solos, like two anchors in a shared space, like a discussion. What legacies do they carry within themselves, and how can one invent one's own dance? Far from being a neutral arbiter, Maud Le Pladec invites us to a vision of dance as sensory expression, when the meeting of cultures and know-hows shows the exploding vitality of teachings and legacies. Accompanied by DJ and composer Chloé Thévenin, she offers with Silent Legacy a poetic manifesto whose subtext could be to decondition dance to help the performer experience their own.’
